UnumProvident
The Situation
UnumProvident Corporation, the largest provider of group and individual disability income protection insurance in the United States and United Kingdom, used their global Intranet for a number of internal projects, but it had become outdated, expensive to maintain, and utilized a poor user interface. As a result, UnumProvident chose Acsys Healthcare to rebuild and redeploy a new Intranet based on Microsoft SharePoint portal technology. In addition, Acsys Healthcare also developed a training module to ensure all employees were able to use the new Intranet.
The Solution
Acsys Healthcare worked with UnumProvident's internal development team to develop and re-brand the SharePoint portal and provided technical insight into the application program interface and branding standards for a consistent look and feel. In addition, Acsys Healthcare developed a navigation tool that tracked employee progress through an Intranet training module.
The Results
- Training module reduced calls to the help desk and helped increase overall acceptance and productivity.
- SharePoint templates, based on Acsys Healthcare designs, allowed non-technical business users to add new areas/content to the Intranet without having to involve IT resources.
- Technical best practices training and new code libraries shortened internal developer ramp up time.
